Studies of metabolic turnover with tritium as a tracer. II. Gross studies on the rat.

چکیده

Previous papers in this series have dealt with the gross metabolic turnover of tritium-labeled compounds in whole mice (1) and in various organs and tissues of rats (2). The present study extends these findings to specific compound fractions isolated from rat tissues. Attention is directed toward the compounds of very slow turnover rate which retain appreciable tritium label from 4 to 8 months after tritium oxide administration. The results reported are of a screening nature and do not represent a thorough study of any particular one. They do indicate, however, an apparent wide-spread distribution of relatively inert compounds among a variety of different types. They also indicate that the same type of compound may exhibit widely different turnover rates in different tissues.

Sacroiliac joint asymmetry regarding inflammation and bone turnover: Assessment by FDG and NaF PET/CT

Objective(s): This study was undertaken to determine the role of computed tomography (CT)-based methodology to segment the SI joint and quantify the metabolic activity using positron emission tomography (PET). We measured tracer uptake in the right and left SI joints independently to look for differences between the two sides. Further, we correlated tracer uptake with ...

Preparation and Biodistribution of [67Ga]-labeled- oxytocin for SPECT purposes

Background: Oxytocin (OT) is a paracrine hormone with various biological activities and many sex organs in both sexes, as well as many tumor cells have shown to have related receptors. In this study the development of a receptor imaging tracer for possible tumor imaging has been described. Materials and Methods: OT was successively labeled with [67Ga]-gallium chloride after conjugation with fre...

Metabolic inhibitors and nucleotide turnover. I. Inhibition of uptake of radiophosphate in rat liver and hepatoma slices.

In chemotherapeutic studies on various types of cancer, it has been observed that a few compounds related in structure to the purines and pyrimidines have a carcinolytic effect on certain tumors. It is of considerable interest to elucidate the mecha nisms by which these effects are produced. Toward this end investigations have been carried out in this laboratory on the effect of a purine analog...

Oxidative stress, biochemical alterations, and hyperlipidemia in female rats induced by lead chronic toxicity during puberty and post puberty periods

Objective(s):Lead (Pb) is a toxic metal inducing many destructive effects leading to a broad range of physiological, biochemical, and neurological dysfunctions in humans and laboratory animals. Materials and Methods: Here, we investigated the effect of chronic exposure to Pb (50 mg/l) on oxidative stress, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and lipid profile of two different age groups of female r...
